Ex councillor, others acquitted in Godhra case

A fast track court on Monday acquitted former Congress councillor Manzoor Khan Pathan and 69 others, accused of indulging in rioting and arson during the post-Godhra riots, for lack of sufficient evidence.

The accused had been arrested for attacking a Harijan colony and setting on fire several houses in Junigali of Panigate area in the city.

While passing the order, Judge SY Qadri said there was no sufficient evidence to prove the crime.
