Ex-RSS chief KS Sudarshan cremated in Nagpur

The former RSS chief KS Sudarshan, who died at Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, was cremated at local Gangabai Ghat near the RSS headquarters today.

The former RSS chief KS Sudarshan, who died at Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, was cremated at local Gangabai Ghat near the RSS headquarters, here this evening.

Sudarshan’s brother, K Ramesh, who lives in Karnataka, flew in here this morning and performed the last rites. Senior RSS and BJP leaders including LK Advani, Mohan Bhagwat, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and others paid their last respects, before Sudarshan’s final journey began from the RSS headquarters in Reshimbagh, south Nagpur locality.

Earlier Sudarshan's body, which was brought from Raipur last evening and kept for public viewing at the Reshimbagh RSS headquarters, was taken in a flower decked Chariot from Reshimbagh to the crematorium in a procession.

The motor drive chariot was also pulled by several Swayayamsewaks who were in their traditional attire sporting Khaki shorts, white shirts and a black cap. Before their departure, the Swayaymsewaks gave him a last salute, offered prayers and sang the Sangh Geet, the RSS anthem.
