THE ENTRANCE examination for schools of excellence being run by the departments of School Education and Tribal Welfare at district headquarters will be held on June 4 this year. For admission to Class IX in the schools, applications have been invited by May 19, 2006.
The Professional Examination Board (PEB) will conduct the entrance examination for the academic session 2006-2007 and the admission will be given on basis of merit.
Students who pass the Class VIII examinations conducted under the district pre-middle, CBSE or ICSE with minimum of 50 per cent marks can apply for entrance examination of Schools of Excellence. If students do not receive the mark sheets of Class VIII until the date they apply for entrance examination, they can make a declaration in this regard.
According to Government rules, seats have also been reserved for students of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/ Other Backward Class candidates along with disabled students.
The entrance examination will be conducted at the school of excellence of the district concerned. The typed application forms for appearing in this examination can be collected from the concerning school of excellence or the block development education office in the district.
The complete forms should be submitted to the Principal, School of Excellence of the district by May 19. The examination will be conducted under the control and direction of the district Collector. Principal of the School of Excellence will be the secretary of the committee to conduct the entrance examination.
The district education officer and the assistant commissioner tribal welfare will coordinate for the exams. On June 4 the examination will be held at the centre fixed for the purpose from 8 am to 10 am.
