VERMICOMPOSTING, WATER harvesting and other issues that affect the daily life of a farmer were discussed at a seminar organised at GICTS on the occasion of Environmental Day.

Speaking to farmers Chairman GDA Jagdish Sharma said, “Farmers can play an important role in keeping the environment of this country clean and pure.” Sharma said to increase production and save environment, farmers should put emphasis on using bio-fertilisers in place of chemical fertilisers.

On this occasion Sharma, who himself is from a rural background shared his experiences with farmers and said the use of bio-fertilisers not only increases productivity of soil but also increases quality and production.

Sharma advised farmers on milk preservation and cautioned them not to inject hormones in vegetables because it was harmful for human beings.

On this occasion City Mayor Vivek Shejwalkar and other dignitaries too, were present. Shejwalkar in his speech said it was the joint responsibility of all human beings to keep their environment clean and pure. He also emphasised on water harvesting.

Earlier, college secretary Rohini Bhate welcomed guests by presenting them flowers.
