Designer Ravi Bajaj admits that he’s an “image conscious person.” His fussy nature, again a self proclamation, makes sure anything he does is stylish. And in case his clothes are not proof enough, visit Ravi Bajaj’s Emporio and Le Café, a revamped version of the Ravi Bajaj store that existed a couple of months ago in GK’s N block market. “The earlier place looked cramped. There was a striped suit and right next to it was a casual jacket,” says Bajaj. What’s come up instead is the Emporio; spread over three levels stocking three different looks and labels – Menswear, Sports line and the Gentlemen’s range.

The fourth level, a revelation, is a café. A forty cover “real coffee experience” has Ritu Dalmia and her kitchen promising the city a café it never had. “I could’ve made the fourth level my store. But I’ve always wanted to do a restaurant and the place was perfect. I asked Ritu and she moved in her kitchen,” he says. A fashion café? “The café has it own strength and we don’t want the fashion store to ride on it or vice versa. But if people come in thinking it’s a Ravi Bajaj café, great!” he says. Ritu has a different take; “No place in the city can offer an authentic cup of espresso.” Ask her whether an individual café would’ve been better and she says, “I don’t want to start something I can’t sustain.”
