Operating from Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore, Fazlu was in Africa, too. It was the period when D-company, Nana company, as the gang of Chhota Rajan called and Babloo were fighting with one another.
As the big players in the world of crime were busy settling scores with one another, Fazlu increased his strength and began to run his own gang in the way Babloo used to.
Coming from Darbhanga, Bihar, Fazlu plunged into the world of crime as a hit-man in Chhota Shakeel’s gang in Mumbai and Kolkata. When he was stationed at Kathmandu, he joined Babloo. For six years Fazlu with Chinky Khanna, Vikram Wahi, Manjeet Singh Mangey, Poonam Bhagat, actress turned criminal, Archana Sharma (seen in a Dev Anand flick), Ravinder Pant were involved several kidnappings.
Be it Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Fazlu played his role with perfection and came on a sound footing after Khanna was murdered with Poonam. He was then entrusted to oversee the operations and recruit new boys: Shri Prakash Shukla was one of them. In the kidnapping of a doctor’s son in Pune, he led the operation and involved a local gangster Atiq.
Although the victim was killed, Fazlu made sure that his father delivered the money. After Kolkata kidnapping planned at Central Park and Babloo being arrested in Singapore, Fazlu switched his loyalties to Anees Ibrahim and oversaw kidnapping of a city’s pan masala baron.
However, Fazlu floated his own gang and kidnapped several persons including two businessmen from Lucknow, another from Kanpur, one from Indore and two from New Delhi in quick succession. His method of kidnapping was similar to that of Babloo.
In Nepal, where he married a woman after a long courtship Rani, the don had a fine network. He aligned with Sahil — the son-in-law of slain Mirza Dilshad Beg and his successor and Salim Ansari, a D-company confidante.
Despite differences in two groups, Fazlu used their power to increase his own strength.
