Defending champions Michael Schumacher and Ferrari will seek their first win after a disappointing start to the Formula One season when they race on home soil in this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix.

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola will be awash with red flags and painted faces as their supporters flock to the high-speed circuit hoping a long run of testing will put the team back on the pace.

"The F2005 (car) was very good right from the start, but now we understand it much better and know how to deal with any problems that may arise," said Schumacher.

"We perfected it and also improved the aerodynamics.

"I think our winning potential is very high with this car, and we're not worried anymore about the problems regarding reliability that came up in Bahrain."

Ferrari have been testing every week since the last race in Bahrain after scoring just 10 points in the first three.

Renault roared away at the start of this season with Italian Giancarlo Fisichella winning the opening race in Australia before Spaniard Fernando Alonso took control and won the next two in Malaysia and Bahrain.

Ferrari struggled with a modified version of their 2004 car in the first two races, with the only points scoring finishes a second place for Brazilian Rubens Barrichello in Australia and a seventh for Schumacher in Malaysia.

They rushed through their F2005 model for the third race in Bahrain but the debut failed to provide the quick fix they needed as Barrichello finished out of the points after tyre problems and Schumacher retired from the race.
