The celebration marking the culmination of nine-day festivities was attended by several prominent leaders and diplomats besides a huge crowd comprising the young and the elderly at the Parade Ground, one of the key sites of enactment of Ramlila in the Capital.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi, along with daughter Priyanka, son-in-law Robert and granddaughter Maira, besides Delhi Lt Governor BL Joshi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and several leaders attended the enactment of the last episode of the war between Lord Rama and Ravana, the evil ruler.

Thousands of people gathered at the ground cheered as the effigies of the demons went up in flames, which was followed by a spectacular display of fireworks.
