EC spokesman A.N. Jha said the panel issued the directive after receiving complaints that she had pulled off the veil from a voter's face at a polling station. While the National Conference had said that Mehbooba had done this to intimidate the woman, her supporters said it was only an attempt to verify the voter's identity.
The complaint had also said that Mehbooba had stormed into the polling booth along with her security guards and threatened voters.
