The fire broke out in the jungle and suddenly, it spread to other areas.

The fire spread to nearly two square kilometres of the forest and destroyed a large patch of forest land, official sources said here.

At least six fire brigade vehicles were engaged to douse the fire. Fire tenders from Patiala, Nabha, Mohali, Ludhiana and Khanna were called to control the flames.

The District officials mentioned that though the exact cause of the fire was not known yet, but it seems that fire from nearby wheat fields reached the forest area with the strong winds.
