Bullets were reportedly fired during Sinha's public meeting in Sitamarhi district by her supporters, but there were no casualties.
"There was no reports of casualty but the firing has created panic among the people," police officials said.
Sinha is the wife of former central minister and senior Janata Dal-United leader Nagmani.
At a time when Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has repeatedly called for improving the law and order situation in the state, this incident of indiscriminate firing by the supporters of one of his cabinet colleagues at a public meeting can only be an embarrassment.
