Singh (42) was nabbed in Baner, Pune by a joint team of the Pune and Haryana police.
“After his arrest, the Haryana police took him away,” said sub-inspector V. Pachange.
Singh, who has several charges against him including theft and cheating, was reportedly running a dhaba on Baner Road. He was declared as absconding in 1997, three years after being released on bail.
Ashu was later acquitted in all cases of auto theft.
Ashu and his family have alleged that the false cases were brought against him at the behest of former Haryana police chief S.P.S. Rathore.
