Five killed in road mishap in Gujarat

Five persons were today killed when their car collided with a speeding truck in Tapi district of South Gujarat, police said.

The incident occurred near Gandhinagar village of Uchchhal taluka when a car carrying five people from Surat collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction, they said.

Of the five persons inside the car, four died on the spot while the other succumbed to injuries during treatment in a government hospital, the police said.

The deceased have been identified as Harshad Patel, Hardik Patel, Chiman Patel, Jagdish Savaiya and Kelwan Patel, and all of them are from Surat district.

A case has been registered against the truck driver who is absconding, they said.
