Owned by an Italian from Brindisi whose romance with this country started after he fell in love with a woman he met here, Flavors is the Diva of casual Italian dining. This is a restaurant where the customer is queen, so don't go expecting authenticity. Still, it's a business model that works, which is why the restaurant is always packed. In fact, there are times when tired of waiting, diners just walk over to Bangkok 3 next door. Flavors owes its success to the beeper-like consistency of its risotto (though purists may quibble that it's not al dente), pizzas, pasta, salads and sandwiches. But the waitresses, despite being quite an eyeful, seem to be at war with humanity – it's very hard to find one who isn't brusque or grumpy. But loyalists keep coming back for the tiramisu and carrot cake, and the bliss of sitting in the park outside, soaking in the sun on a lazy winter afternoon.
