The flights have been diverted to places like Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Hyderabad, airport sources said.

According to one passenger, the airlines did not inform them about the delay and they were stranded at the airports as there was no flight to and from Mumbai.

The schedules of almost all carriers, including Indian, Sahara and Jet Airways were affected.

Due to late arrival of flights the departure would also be affected, they said adding the skies had been clear on Thursday night and the thick fog engulfed the area at around 7.30 am on Friday.
