They were speaking at the conclusion of the weeklong National Youth Camp, organised by the local branch of the Ramakrishna Mission.

While Vidyarthi was the chief guest, Justice (rtd) Palok Basu presided over the closing function.

They expressed concern over ever growing corruption and crime.

Vidyarthi said India today was at the crossroads, not knowing where or in which direction to move. He likened the situation to Arjuna’s dilemma just before the Mahabharat ‘Dharm Yudh’. At that time, Lord Krishna asked Arjuna to shrug off his weakness, he said and added that today’s youth must strive for both character building and nation building.

He felt that the biggest question that faced the youth was how to extricate the country from the mire it was in and advised them to feel the spark of Vivekananda in them, imbibe his spirits and follow his ideals.

“Swamiji thought that the great work can only be done by the youth, the future of India and its future hope too,” he said.

At the outset, he congratulated the Mission for organising such camps every year.

He hoped that the participants would practise what they had learnt at the camp and share their experiences with others and encourage them.

Similar sentiments were expressed by Justice Basu. He told participants that if they felt that they needed to do something for the country, they should not wait for someone to tell them to do so, but initiate the work remembering Swamiji and they would succeed. He said that Swamiji dreamt of putting India on top of the world.

His ideals and messages were perhaps more relevant than ever before.

Swami Nikhilatmananda Maharaj and Swami Raghavendranand Maharaj blessed the participants while Swami Tyagagatmandan Maharaj welcomed and introduced the guests.

A few participants narrated their experiences in the camp. The winners of various competitions spoke about Swami Vivekananda. The programme ended with a prize/certificate distribution and a vote of thanks.
