Less than 0.3 seconds separated the 2010 Polo Cup champion Sailesh Bolisetti from Aditya Patel after qualifying. Pretty commendable, one would think except that such a gap in the very competitive Scirocco R Cup translates into a difference of nine places on the starting grid. Bolisetti qualified 19th out of a field of 26 drivers for the Scirocco R Cup race at Brands Hatch.

It's about the best that he can expect after graduating to the Scirocco R Cup on the basis of winning the Polo Cup in India last year.

"I really didn't know what to expect," said Bolisetti. "These cars have almost double the power of the cars in India so it's a real challenge to drive here." With all cars on the grid prepared equally and no modifications allowed by the drivers, Bolisetti has called upon reinforcements from India to give him a hand.

Radha Selvaraj, the veteran Indian Super Saloon racing driver, has been accompanying Bolisetti and acting as a 'spotter' for the 23-year-old. "We aren't allowed to make any changes except for the roll-bar settings," said Bolisetti.

With the very high possibility of current Polo R Cup points leader Vishnu Prasad joining him on the European racing scene next year, there could be two Indian graduates next year.
