Former S Korean President Kyu-hah dead

Choi Kyu-hah, who was South Korea's president for a short period in 1979-80, died on Sunday of heart failure.

Choi Kyu-hah, who was South Korea's president for a short period in 1979-80, died on Sunday of heart failure at the age of 88, hospital officials said.

Choi lost consciousness at his Seoul home early in the morning and was taken to Seoul National University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:37 am (2237 GMT), officials said.

Choi became acting president in 1979 after the assassination of President Park Chung-hee. Choi was forced to resign eight months later following a military coup.
