"Both Sachin (Tendulkar) and Sunny (Gavaskar) are great batsmen but with different styles of play and I would not like to compare them. But I can tell you one thing that you can expect many more centuries from Sachin as he has got age on his side," former India skipper Polly Umrigar told PTI here on Saturday.
"He (Tendulkar) is just 31 and one can confidently say that he will go on to score many more and I personally think that equalling Gavaskar's record will only make him (Tendulkar) more motivated to do even better in future", he added.
Another former India skipper Dilip Vengsarkar said "it is a fantastic record and in my opinion there are many more to come".
"It is very difficult to compare the two of them as Gavaskar was an opening batsman while Tendulkar is a middle order batsman," he added.
"However, I would like to add that Gavaskar played against some of the fearsome fast bowlers of all time while Tendulkar has got runs against top spinners of the present time who have more than 1,000 Test scalps to their credit," Vengsarkar said.
Tendulkar was unbeaten on 159 on the second day of their first cricket Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
