In the first phase, 300 individual houses would be built at a cost of Rs 18 crore. These houses would be available by December 31, 2010, District Collector G Ragesh Chandra told newsmen on the sidelines of the function at the village.

The Project Implementation Agency, Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, would construct the houses on a six hectare site at Nallavadu.

This is part of the Agency's scheme to provide 1373 houses for affected fishermen's families in Dubrayanpet, Vambakeerapalayam, Uppalam and Solai nagar and Nallavadu under a Rs 48 crore total outlay provided by the World Bank.
