Four cops, who let off man, may be arrested

Five persons, including four police officials, booked for letting off a criminal on Sunday, are likely to be arrested. Prabhu Razdan reports.

Five persons, including four police officials, booked for letting off a criminal on Sunday, are likely to be arrested.

The four police officials have been suspended and departmental proceedings have been initiated against them, said sources.

The police are in the process of obtaining their call details. “The call details of the police officials are being obtained,” said AK Rao, joint commissioner of police, Faridabad.

Interestingly, the investigating officers are yet to identify the criminal.

“Some say the criminal was from Madhya Pradesh, while others opine he hailed from Maharashtra ,” said a senior police officer.

The five have been booked under sections 342, 387, 506, 120B of the Indian Penal Code and Section 7/13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
