Four non-permanent members elected to UNSC

Belgium, Italy, South Africa and Indonesia have been elected to serve two years in the Security Council.

Four states were elected as new non-permanent members of the UN Security Council by the General Assembly, a top official announced Monday.

Belgium, Italy, South Africa and Indonesia have been elected to serve two years in the Security Council, Haya Al Khalifa, president of the General Assembly, said at its plenary meeting.

However, there is still one seat undecided between Venezuela and Guatemala, she said, adding the Assembly has to carry out a second round of election.
