Fusion of tears and mirth at MNNIT

The glittering MP Hall complex witnessed a curious mix of tears and laughter as students and teaching staff joined hands to bid good bye to the students of the outgoing batch of 2005-06 at the official farewell ceremony of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) ?Rukhsat-06 late on Saturday evening.

The glittering MP Hall complex witnessed a curious mix of tears and laughter  as students and teaching staff joined hands to bid good bye to  the students of the outgoing batch of 2005-06 at the official farewell ceremony of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) –Rukhsat-06 late on Saturday evening.

"The students are the real asset of any institute who are taken care of and nurtured during their stint at the institute. The institute takes pride in hosting the students who later on reach to the zenith of their careers, said Director of MNNIT Prof Arun Baran Samaddar, who inaugurated the farewell ceremony following the Saraswati Vandana.

Prof AB Samadaar further wished all outgoing students a grand future and loads of success in their life. The host of the ceremony and chief warden of MNNIT Prof PK Misra in his customary farewell speech said that as custodian of more than 400 outgoing students, it was a heart felt moment for him with mixed emotion of grief for parting ways with the students but also a sense of pride over the accomplishments of the students.

It may be mentioned that most of the students have already bagged jobs before the completion of their courses during the campus placement drive which is conduced throughout the year.

Prof Mishra said that students will leave the MNNIT premises with memories to be cherished long, and the institution too will bask under the glory of the achievements of its students.

Later the students including those of MTech and MMS presented songs, dance items and slide shows on the occasion. The outgoing students of final years shared their views over the days spent in the MNNIT premises. Thereafter students were conferred titles which were selected with the help of an online interface developed by the students specially for the voting of the titles.

The titles conferred to student included Miss Brainy: Priyanka Chand, Miss Congeniality: Anupriya Sinha, Big B of the year (Actor): Chandresh Maithil, Mr Techniscient: Anil KM, Mr Athlete: Rajeev Lochan, Sonu Nigam of the year: Chaithanya M, Most Popular Guy of the Year: Himanshu Mishra.

An organizing committee of students including Abhay Singh, Deepan Shukla, Divya Mishra, Rohini Jain, Rajat Jain and Swetank Shekhar extended their help in making the ceremony a great success. Later, MNNT administration hosted a grand dinner for the students which was attended by Prof AB Samadar (director), Prof PK Misra (chief warden), Prof Rajeev Tripathi, Prof Rakesh Narain, president Student Activity Centre and Prof Raghvir Kumar (Dean, Students Affairs).
