Game for new SUVs?
Sport utility vehicle owners in the city want the world from the new models hitting the market

Aditi Sharma, a graduate in Commerce from Bhagat Singh College, believes that a her Scorpio makes her stand apart. “The Talking Scorpio (SLX Model) version can tell if the door is open,” says Sharma. However, she finds diesel engines a bit too noisy. “Petrol has better pickup.”
Nimish Arora, who owns a Mitsubishi Pajero, wants better after-sales service from SUV makers. “We opted for a Pajero because of space and the 2800 cc engine but newer models may offer better mileage.”
For Alok Kumar, marketing director, Interbrew, the Safari is the car he has always wanted. “But airbags could enhance safety.” The Terracan might be his type of car with its airbags, front crumple zone and side impact rods.
To car enthusiast Rajiv Basra, more competition means better styling. “Take the muscular-looking CR-V. Its styling is such that its bonnet looks small. And the big tail lights enhance safety.” SUV lovers in the city want better vehicles. Watch this space.
The shape of things to come Jimny: This mini SUV from Suzuki has been doing the rounds of the Auto Expo for a while now. Jimny banks more on the hip-hop feel rather than macho looks. Nissan X Trail: Scheduled to be launched as a completely built up unit, it boasts of an advanced Common Rail Direct Ignition Technology. It is advanced, as there is no obtrusive diesel clatter even when the engine is fired up from cold. Hyundai Tucson: It shows fine proportions, which disguise the roominess of the interior. |
