NOTORIOUS GANGSTER Javed Ringwala was killed by about about half a dozen miscreants on Saturday morning.
Javed, 45, was an office-bearer of the Samajwadi trade wing and an influential SP MLA was seen at the mortuary, where autopsy was conducted.
According to eyewitnesses, around 8 am on Saturday miscreants identified as Israil Antewala, Wasim Bante, Shahjade Surmewale, Badshah and a real brother of Israil were standing at Badar Ali-ka-Chawk.
When Javed, like every day, came and sat at a tea stall in an adjacent lane in the area, the five miscreants masked their faces, pounced on Javed from behind, threw him on the ground and peppered him with bullets. Israil and his aides waited till they felt assured that Javed had breathed his last.
Several .38 bore empty cartridges, prohibited for public use and only found with police personnel, were seen scattered at the site. After gunning down Javed Ringwala, miscreants ran in two directions. Eyewitnesses said that three persons ran towards Kanghi Mohal and two ran towards Talaq Mohal. Some persons at the railway crossing asked Israil and his brother why they were running and the two said their mother’s health was not well.
A highly placed source said that Israil Antewala, a resident of Kanghi Mohal, was constructing a building in front of Javed’s house in Gammu Khan-ka-Hata. They had an altercation 3-4 days back when Javed had reportedly slapped Israil.
Police are seeing Saturday’s killing as a retaliatory move by Israil who enjoys patronage of gangster Pervez, who is in jail.
Doctors who conducted the autopsy confirmed that Javed was hit on his head, neck and legs.
Late in the evening, situation became tense when body of Javed after autopsy reached his place at Gammu Khan-Ka- Hata in Talaq Mohal.
One Pappu Halwai and other supporters of Javed were seen roaming and brandishing firearms, forcing shopkeepers to bring down their shutters.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed in the area.
