Official sources said a large number of police personnel have been deployed outside the Hyderpora residence of Geelani to prevent him from moving out.

A senior police officer informed him that he cannot move out without their permission.

Geelani was put under house arrest on February 22 evening after the Dodipora incident.

However, he was taken into preventive custody on Friday after he tried to break the police cordon near his house.

He was released from the police station late in the evening and put under house arrest.

Meanwhile, Islamic Students League chairman Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi and Muslim League chief Mushtaq-ul-Islam remained under detention.

They were arrested from Moulana Azad Road near here on February 23 during protest demonstration against the killings.
