Both the rivers are expected to cross danger marks by Tuesday evening. The primary schools in affected areas have been closed to accommodate flood victims.

At an emergency meeting with officials and engineers on Monday late evening the DM discussed the preparations point-wise to fight the floods. In a fax message to State's Relief Commissioner the DM has requested him to contact the officials concerned of Rajasthan and MP for releasing water from dams in long intervals to contain the flood fury.

The Buxi bund sluice gate has been closed, patrolling along bunds ordered and the boatmen and fishers have been asked not to venture in the rivers. A round-the-clock Flood Control Room has also been set up at Collectorate (telephone No 1077 and 2440515).

The SSP, BS Meena, informed that water police and divers have been alerted and 30 divers have been kept in reserve at Sangam water police post.

Following the DM's order, CMO Dr Shantimal Singhavi has directed the superintendents and medical officer incharge to reside at the headquarters and ensure that life saving medicines have reached at all the Flood Relief Chowkies in their areas.

Dr Singhavi said the health staff would also remain posted at the Flood Relief Chowkies. The senior medical officers would daily submit the assessment report to the additional chief medical officer (personnel).

They could also call the ACMO on his number 9415418629, Dy CMO (epidemic control) at 9935523032 or district epidemic control cell incharge at 9335132322, he said.

"Strict action will be taken against the medical officer found showing laxity in the flood relief work. The superintendents and MOICs are also expected to remain in contact with the tehsil and block level workers for providing maximum health facilities to people in low lying areas," he said.

CMO Dr Singhavi said the chief medical superintendents were requested to make adequate arrangements of staff, beds, medicines and Ambulance to meet any contingency. "The request has also been made to the senior officers of Jal Nigam and Jal Sansthan for supplying chlorinated water in the flood-affected areas," he said.

Dr Singhavi said all the medical and health services were available at the Flood Relief Chowkies and the residents could easily avail these services.

"In case of any complaint, they can call at 2640645 or 9412815968. Immediate action will be taken on the complaint," he added.
