A Sharda University student allegedly jumped to death from the hostel building on Monday.
“The victim has been identified as Shilpa Verma, a student of B.Tech third year. Shilpa, a resident of Delhi, jumped from the fourth floor of the hostel this morning. She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead. We have sent the body for post-mortem,” said Deepak Sharma, SHO, Kasna.
“Shilpa used to live in a room on the ground floor of the girls' hostel. Her exams had got over on Saturday. Last night, she was enjoying with her friends in the room when some girls who had to take a paper on Monday complained to the warden about the noise. The warden asked the girls to maintain silence,” said Sharma.
“The girls, then, went to the room of another student on the fourth floor and started partying. Around 4am today, Shilpa went out and jumped to death from the floor,” said Sharma.
“We have seized mobile phones and a laptop from her room. We are scanning the call details and laptop details. She had made the last call around 3.20am,” said Alok Priyadarshi, DSP.
Shilpa’s relatives have alleged foul play in the incident. However, her father is yet to file a police report. “We will register the case only after getting the complaint,” said Sharma.
