“She was upset after the results were declared around 10.30am on Monday. She had failed in the same class twice. She hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside her residence,” senior superintendent of police Raghubir Lal told Hindustan Times.

Police said that the victim’s father, MP Singh, is a deputy jailer at the Dasna district prison in Ghaziabad.

The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem. She is survived by two brothers. She was the only daughter.
