Girls chase away Maoists

A group of girls chased away four suspected Maoists who allegedly tried to disturb the flag hoisting ceremony at a state-run school at Maigra in Gaya district on the Independence Day, a senior police official said today.

A group of girls chased away four suspected Maoists who allegedly tried to disturb the flag hoisting ceremony at a state-run school at Maigra in Gaya district on the Independence Day, a senior police official said on Monday.

The girls intervened when four Maoists reached the school on motorcycles and raised anti-national slogans before showing disrespect to the flag, SP Daljit Singh said.

The men fired some gunshots while fleeing. No one was injured, he said.

Later, the girls brought out a procession against the Maoists in the village, he added.
