Girls outshine boys in UP Board Exams

Girls registered a pass percentage of 76.6 as against 68.7% of the boys in UP Board Exams.

Girls once again outperformed boys, this time in the class 10 examination of the UP Board registering a pass percentage of 76.6 as against 68.7 per cent for their male countreparts.

Announcing this at a press conference in Allahabad on Thursday, Chairman of the UP Board Sanjay Mohan said the over 26 lakh students who appeared for the exams this year, 71.66 per cent were successful.

Shubhankar Khare of BNSD Shiksha Niketan, Kanpur, topped the examinations, securing 89.66 per cent marks, followed by Akanksha Singh of Fajat BBM Girls Inter College, Lucknow, who with 89.33 Per cent marks was the topper among the girls.

The third position was also shared by BNCD Inter college student Ankur Pandey and Soumya Pandey, both of whom secured 89.16 per cent marks.

Kanpur also had the distinction of having the highest number of 57 students making it to the merit list.

This year's results saw an improvement in the marks scored by the toppers compared with last year, when the first position holder could manage to get only 88.6 per cent marks, Mohan added.
