Godmother Santokaben arrested

Gangster Santokben ‘Godmother’ Jadeja was arrested for allegedly sheltering two accused in the sensational rape-cum-murder of two girls in Girnar hills here last month, reports Haresh Pandya.

The police on Sunday got four-day remand of notorious gangster Santokben ‘Godmother’ Jadeja. She was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly sheltering two accused in the sensational rape-cum-murder of two girls in Girnar hills here last month.

On Sunday morning, Junagadh Police Sub-Inspector Narendrasinh Chudasama apparently tried to get tough with Jadeja in front of mediapersons. This eventually infuriated her and in a retaliatory action she not only hurled the choicest expletives at the policemen in her Mer dialect but also threw a tray at him. The situation could have worsened but for the timely intervention by other cops.

Meanwhile, the police have sought permission to conduct lie detection and narco tests on Jadeja, if she does not co-operate with the investigators. Jadeja, however, denies all the charges. She accuses the ruling BJP government for “framing” her.

“The BJP government has been harassing my family since long. I know none of the accused in the case. The BJP fears that I would contest the coming assembly elections. They are playing dirty politics. But I will fight tooth and nail and prove my innocence,” she told the media while being taken into custody.
