RAJYA SHABHA MP and member of the Congress Central Election Committee Mohsina Kidwai has said the development of a state can be possible only when there is good understanding between the State and Central governments. The Congress leader was here to attend the ‘Holi Milan’ function.
While addressing the newsmen here today, she said the Mulayam Singh government was not taking the benefit of good schemes introduced by the UPA government. Instead of taking benefit, it was engaged in verbal duels.
The senior Congress leader said infrastructure development was the need of hour and the State Government should take steps to improve it.
Though, the demand for electricity was increasing day-by-day, no steps had been initiated by the state government since 1989, she said.
Kidwai said the Congress had supported Mulayam Singh Yadav to install a secular government in the State. Otherwise, the Congress has been criticising the functioning of the State Government, said Kidwai.
She said her party wanted 33 per cent reservation for the women in the State legislatures and Parliament and soon a Bill in this regard would be tabled in Parliament.
Talking about poor presence of the Congress in the UP, she said steps were being taken to improve the health of the party. However, she blamed the incumbent government for harassing her party workers.
When asked about Rahul Gandhi’s role, she said Rahul would play an important role to enhance party’s standard in UP. She said Rahul had addressed several party workers’ rally in the past. She said the Congress yet to decide about coalition partner for the forthcoming Assembly election in State. However, she said, it would depend on situation and time.
