Tea breaks and lunching in Lower Parel, for office goers, is somewhat of a task. So this cozy bistro tucked between tea stalls is a great proposition.
Mumbai Deli offers a spread of bakery items and beverages. It is an 8-to-8 place, open for breakfast and shut in time for an early supper. The menu consists of a spread of waffles, eggs, soups, salads and sandwiches and paninis — items you can take along in little take-away boxes.

The place is nicely done up with high bar stools placed alongside shelves that cling to the walls. They also offer an open display of food items and display vintage images of the old mills that once dotted the area. The service is a bit of a bummer, especially if you opt to grill paninis. But their USP is definitely the fresh salads. While most cafes leave you yearning for more, Mumbai Deli will actually whip you up a nice vegetarian salad with a good vegetable selection.

The Italian pasta, for example, is a mix of zucchini, tomatoes, onions, peppercorns, barley, coriander and chives folded in lemon juice and olive oil. Or you can opt for a white wine vinaigrette dressing and choose from jalapenos, olives, capers and loads of spices. However, their breakfast and beverages could be better.

We like
The ambience.
The salad and breakfast spread.

We don’t like
The slow service.
The beverage selection. It needs more variety.
