The engine of a goods train caught fire near here today but there were no injuries to the staff inside or major damage to the train.
According to North Central Railway Public Relations Officer Amit Malaviya, the empty goods train had left Cheoki station, some 15 kms from the city, for Satna in Madhya Pradesh this evening and the engine caught fire at Iradatganj, barely a few kilometres away from Cheoki.
The staff on board the train immediately informed the control room, following which fire brigade reached the spot and put out the fire "without much difficulty", Malaviya said adding some technicians were also sent to fix the snag which had caused the fire.
