The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday accused the government of non-performance in the state and compounding people's miseries.

In a statement, PDP youth general secretary Showkat Gayoor said the state after witnessing destruction and political turmoil for many years had reposed its trust repeatedly in the democratic process and had participated in elections to choose their representatives to various institutions like Parliament, the state assembly, urban bodies and panchayats.

"But, unfortunately the NC-led government eroded their credibility," he charged.

He accused that NC leaders "remained engaged only in their personal survival and in the process made compromises on almost every issue that resulted in further disempowerment of the state and the ordinary citizen".

He said winds of change are now visible in Jammu & Kashmir too.

"People here have pinned hope in the electoral process as well as in their own strength to cooperate with people friendly forces in the state. A new spell of value based politics is in the offing and political parties will have to surrender to peoples ethos for a clean society and polity," he said.
