The news brought cheers in the teachers community of the medical college.
They were relieved to know that the action would save the college from being derecognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). President of Medical College Teachers’ Association Dr AK Rathi, Dr Jeena and others expressed satisfaction over the decision of the State government and thanked Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, MLC Ganesh Shanker Pandey, SP MLA DR PK Rai, MLC Dr PD Singh and MLA Dr RMD Agrawal for their sustained efforts to save the recognition of the medical college.
Sources said that physicians who were promoted as associate professors included Dr Mukul Mishra in the department of Medicine and Dr AK Thakkar.
While Dr Vinit Mehrotra will be associate professor in Orthopaedic, in Pathology Dr Rajiv Mishra and Dr KR Mathur will be associate professors.
Others are Dr AK Ghosh, Dr DK Srivastav, Dr AK Upadhyaya, Dr Nila Sharma, Dr Reena Srivastav, Dr Raka Rani, Dr RN Chaudhary, Dr CK Rastogi, Dr PP Gupta, Dr RP Pandey, Dr AB Asthana, Dr Ramji and Dr K Jain.
In a meeting, members of teachers’ association appreciated Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav for providing funds to develop the infrastructure in the medical college and expressed hope that the same cooperative attitude would continue in future too.
Sources said that the State government got the opportunity to promote the lecturers and doctors as associate professors after the decision of the Supreme Court on the writ petition filed by Dr AK Rathi.
