Govt to construct five-star on Aarey land: BJP

BJP is threatening an agitation against the govt's move to gift away this prime land to builders, reports Dhaval Kulkarni.

Alleging that the state government's eventual aim was to construct a five star hotel on the Aarey Milk colony land, the BJP threatened an agitation against the move to gift away prime land to builders.

Party leader and spokesman Atul Bhatkhalkar said the Muslim crematorium and SRA schemes were being used as fronts for opening the five- star hotel, which would come up after shutting down the Aarey milk colony.

"The Aarey milk colony, which is one of the green lungs of the city, is being gifted to the builders. The builders will also get the upper hand in deciding the names of the slum dwellers eligible under the SRA scheme. If the government implements this plan, the party will agitate."
