Grave reservations
If the government rushes through the reservations issue, it will be doing a great disservice to the nation. Doctors who have given crutches of reservations to make the mark, can?t be trusted patient care as their learning would be sub-standard.
If the government rushes through the reservations issue, it will be doing a great disservice to the nation. Doctors who have given crutches of reservations to make the mark, can’t be trusted patient care as their learning would be sub-standard. Technical institutions and corporate houses will suffer not only nationally but also in the face of global competition. Let excellence excel in national and international interest.

apropos of Sibal sees no merit in Arjun’s quota (April 27), Arjun Singh and V.P. Singh should pay heed to the voice of reason and refrain from diluting levels of excellence in higher education. Deserving students should get scholarships if they are poor. Political leaders should not be allowed to mess up the education system and ruin the future of the country.

It is disturbing to know that leaders like V.P. Singh are trying to gain media attention through ‘caste politics’ (Now VP aims at reservation in judiciary, April 26). It is clear that leaders who belong to princely families are compromising on the future of the country’s youth for their own political ends. Singh should learn from Mandal days when the country was burning and he was a mute spectator.

Pitfalls for the rising son
Apropos of the editorial Mr Gandhi stakes his claim (April 27), Rahul Gandhi’s wish to take on the anti-Congress forces to turn things around for the Congress in UP is being interpreted differently. The sycophants in the Congress take it as a signal for his readiness to accept the office of general secretary and very soon there will be chorus rising to crescendo. The young man may be getting too much too soon and too easily.
