Unidentified militants lobbed a powerful grenade at the house of Manipur government official at interior village Andro in Imphal East district, police said on Wednesday.

Unidentified militants lobbed a powerful grenade at the house of Manipur government official at interior village Andro in Imphal East district, police said on Wednesday.

The grenade, however, failed to explode at the house of Dr A Mukta Singh, who works with the state health department, on Monday night.

The explosive was removed yesterday morning by experts of the nearby Yairipok police station, officials said.

Monetary demand by militants could be the cause of the incident, they said.
