In a location where fast-food joints fight for space with the more chic and upmarket eateries, Bennigan’s Grill and Tavern in PVR Saket stands out.
The music is Country and ear-friendly and the décor is a mish-mash of Irish and American.
The food portions here are large and priced competitively. The extensive wine list offers wines from India, Australia and California, besides the regular fare. Try the flavoured Margaritas instead.
For starters, dig into Bennigan’s Best Sampler crispy cheese potato skins, golden fried cheese and their famous Bennigan’s chicken wings served with marinara sauce, bleu cheese dressing and sour cream. Ignore the Irish Haystack sliced battered onions.
Salad freaks can choose between the Caesar Salad, the Bennigan’s garden salad (both vegetarian), while non-veggies can opt for the Kilkenny’s Country Chicken Salad slices of fried chicken served on a bed of fresh greens.
Fajitas come in two choices the Southwest Fajitas (choice of chicken, lamb, shrimp or a combo of any of the two) and Vegetarian.
The grilled salmon, served with either crisp broccoli or green peas, deserves special mention as does the jumbo Monte Cristo sandwich of tender turkey and chicken ham tucked in with Swiss cheese and fried a tantalising golden brown. And you can give the sweet raspberry sauce served with the sandwich a skip.
Finish off with either the Brownie Bottom Pie chocolate fudge with vanilla ice cream, or the New York Style Cheesecake. Meal for two
Rs 1,000 - 1,200 (including alcoholic beverages).
