Madhya Pradesh BJP vice-president and former Leader of Opposition in the state, Gauri Shankar Shejwar is one of the tallest BJP leaders in the state with a long political experience.
An Scheduled Caste leader and a doctor by profession, he represents Sanchi constituency and wields considerable influence over a big section of backward classes in the state.
Born on July 1, 1950, he is known as a resilient politician, who has emerged unscathed out of many controversies that haunted him, including about his unceremonious ouster as Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly some time back.
The party high command had replaced him with Babu Lal Gaur as Leader of Opposition. Deeply upset, he went on an "spiritual cleansing" fast and said it was because of his failure to win the confidence of State leadership
