Gujarat government appoints D J Pandian as Chief Secretary

The Gujarat government on Thursday appointed a 1981 batch IAS Jagdeesa Pandian as Chief Secretary, Gujarat taking over from Varesh Sinha, whose extension expired.

While appointing Pandian, presently additional chief secretary of industries and mines, the government superseded senior most IAS SK Nanda, who has now been made chairman and managing director (CMD) of Gujarat State Fertilisers Corporation (GSFC).

Nanda is the senior most IAS belonging to the 1978 batch of Gujarat cadre. He was additional chief secretary (home).

The present MD of GSFC, Atanu Chakraborty has been made principal secretary industries and mines and has been given additional charge of MD, Gujarat state petroleum corporation (GSPC). Additional chief secretary urban development, GR Aloria has been given additional charge of crucial home department.
