Gunmen kill civilian, injure another in north Kashmir

One person was killed and another injured when unknown gunmen opened fire at them in north Kashmir's Sopore, 55 km away from Srinagar, on Friday evening.

Preliminary reports suggest that around 9 pm, gunmen barged into the house of Khazir Mohammad Naikoo, a resident of Seloo, Sopore. He is a Congress worker.

The gunmen opened fire at Naikoo's son Nazir Ahmad Naikoo, a contractor, killing him on the spot. His relative also received bullet injuries in the attack and has been shifted to hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.

The attack spread panic in the area. Meanwhile, the security forces have started an operation to nab the killers. When last reports came me, the security forces had started a search operation in the area.
