However, their efforts did not yield much result even on this occasion as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, whom a delegation of the Gurujis met on Tuesday evening, reportedly took the matter casually saying that the matter would be looked into.

Dissatisfied with the reportedly apathetic attitude of the Chief Minister, the Guruji Sangh has decided to intensify the agitation.

‘‘Now our peaceful agitation will take a different turn and the State Government will be fully responsible,’’ State patron of the Sangh, Ajay Pal Singh, told Hindustan Times. He said Gurujis had been carrying on peaceful agitation since past six years but the government was paying no attention. Now, the Gurujis would be squatting before Hotel Palash till their demands are met, Singh said.

The main demands of the Gurujis are – regularisation of service, equal pay for equal work, hike in dearness allowance and provision of appointments on compassionate grounds, healthcare facilities and provision for transfer.

He said that a delegation had met the Chief Minister on March 6 last year when he had promised to look into the matter without actually having a proper look at the memorandum. No action was taken in ten months and it was a repeat of the same on Tuesday.

The Gurujis’ rally caused major traffic disruptions in few of the busiest parts of the City including parts of Link Road 1, Roshanpura Square and finally a major traffic jam at the Rangmahal Square where they gathered and jammed the entire road from Rangmahal Square to Palash Hotel for quite a while. After about two hours, all the Gurujis were in front of hotel Palash where they were planning to stage a sit-in all through the night and then indefinitely.

The delegation that met the Chief Minister on Tuesday included BMS State president Mangilal Porwal, Sangh working president Sultan Singh Shekhawat, president Sandarbh Singh Baghel and general secretary Tejnarayan Dubey apart from Singh.
