H1N1 claims four more lives in Chandigarh

Four more people, including two women, succumbed to the swine flu in Punjab and Haryana taking the number of fatalities from H1N1 virus in the region to 38.

Three, one of them a woman, died in the Union Territory of Chandigarh and one in Amritsar, the first flu death in the holy city.

Narinder Pathania, a bank employee, Santoshi Rani, a resident of Sirmour in HP, and Manohar Lal, hailing from Haryana's Yamunanagar district, all hospitalised here, died of illness, swine flu nodal officer H C Gera said.

Five more, who tested positive, were hospitalised in the city taking the number of those contracting the virus to 282 in the region, he said.

Sarbjit Kaur, a resident of Chabba village in Amritsar, succumbed to the swine flu in a private hospital, an official said.
