"This is the worst of my time in this position," said the great all-rounder. "There is just no continuity in selection."

Fast bowlers Shane Bond and Mike Mason are the latest on the New Zealand injury list. Bond has an ear infection and is almost ruled out of tomorrow's final one-day match against India while Mason is also doubtful.

Wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum has compounded the problem by complaining of dizziness.

Jacob Oram and Nathan Astle have already been relegated to the bench after developing injuries.
