Half-burnt body of youth recovered in Karnal village

A half-burnt body of an unidentified youth was recovered by the police on the banks of a canal near here on Sunday. The body had injury marks on the face and the police suspected it as a murder case.

Police said that the sarpanch of Saidpur village near here informed the police about the presence of a body.

The deceased is believed to be between 22 and 25 years but his identity is yet to be established.

“Prima facie it seems that the man was murdered at some other place and his body was dumped near canal at Saidpur village. It is a visible attempt to burn the body by unknown persons,” said the station house officer (SHO) Gorakhpal Rana at the Sadar police station.

Rana said that the forensic experts had taken samples and efforts were on identify the deceased.
