He made his One-Day International debut on tour in Pakistan, and produced the goods with a maiden century in difficult conditions. In a similar fashion he made his Test debut in a rain marred game when he made an unbeaten 40, showing immense matuarity.

Hamish Marshall is shaping up as one of the real success stories of New Zealand. He had been the Young Player to Lord's in 1998 and a member of the New Zealand Cricket Academy in 1999.
