Handpicked leaders
Whatever your political inclinations may be, you would be inhuman not to feel sorry for those poor politico dearies whose wallets and mobile phones have been nicked.
Whatever your political inclinations may be, you would be inhuman not to feel sorry for those poor politico dearies whose wallets and mobile phones have been nicked. The perpetrators of this dastardly crime supposedly belong to a gang of pickpockets. But with the victims, numbering almost 50, being leaders of the BJP, the JD(U) and other NDA parties, there’s already rumours doing the rounds that the UPA, the Congress, in particular, is behind the scandalous heist.

While the NDA leaders were courting arrest, protesting against the UPA government for working against the ‘aam aadmi’ by hiking fuel prices, the pinchers went about their work. It is still not clear where the disgruntled Madan Lal Khurana stands on the matter. After having cut himself free from the BJP, the former Delhi Chief Minister had launched a campaign in support of traders who had constructed shops and structures illegally in residential areas. He had been worried about how this errant lot would survive if their unauthorised structures were demolished. Now, Mr Khurana may show similar concern for the pickpocketing community, who if driven up the wall by law enforcers after this incident, may face a stark future.
One can be sure that the mobile phones of leaders like Ravi Shankar Prasad won’t contain awkward smses or phone numbers. As for the wallets, like politicians of all hues and colours, the NDA leaders should know a thing or two about losing their deposits. So one hopes that the victims of this dastardly act will be able to rehabilitate themselves quickly enough.
